From August 11th to 15th, social movement representatives from Latin American and Caribbean countries meet in the city of Asunción, in Paraguay for the fourth Americas Social Forum (ASF) edition. Several platforms from the MESA de Articulación, as well as number of member NGOs participated in the various activities, round tables and workshops.
Régulation des marchés agricoles
Several NGO members of the IFP have agreed on a joint position paper on regulation of agricultural markets issue. This paper provides a basis for several IFP member who wishes to develop cooperation on agricultural issues.
The Caucus of Development NGO Network (Philippines) released in July 3 a very comprehensive assessment of the Administration Medium Term Development Plan (MTDP) (2004-2010).
The New Zealand Council for International Development (CID) is another platform that has been placed under pressure by the cuts in funding from government. The CID received 80% cut in funding and has gone through major restructuring and reform.

During the annual General Assembly (GA) of ACCION, which was held on Friday June the 18th at the Lastarria Observatory, was unanimously approved the financial report of the outgoing office, managed by Álvaro Ramis and the new administrators were elected for the next two years.
Coordination SUD :
At the beginning of April, in a context of financial crisis, Coordination SUD with several organizations finalized a common stand concerning taxes on financial transactions. This position suggests deducting a tax from the interbank transaction exchanges involving European change, all around the world. The resources generated by such a tax would allow to finance priority international needs...
The Alliance of Malagasy Civil Society is worried about the lack of transparency in the organization of the big National Dialogue introduced by Mr Rajoelina for the crisis exit in Madagascar.
The whole civil society world learnt with consternation the brutal death of Mister Floribert CHEBAYA, Executive Director of the NGO “Speechless Voice for Human Rights” (VSV) and of his driver Fidèle BAZANA, happened on Wednesday May 2th 2010 in Kinshasa.
CCIC / CCCI :
CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) funding to the Canadian Council for International Co-operation (CCIC), Canada’s NGO platform, is in doubt. A critical and well-respected voice for the world’s poor risks being silenced if funding to CCIC is cut off.
CCIC is seeking international expression of solidarity for the continued ability to sustain its work. Please send short statements or expressions of solidarity to CCIC.
