At the beginning of April, in a context of financial crisis, Coordination SUD with several of its member organizations (Care, CCFD, Secours Catholique, Oxfam, Gret, etc.) and none members (Attac, les Amis de la Terre, Greenpeace, WWF, Coalition plus, etc.) – finalized a common stand concerning taxes on financial transactions.
This position suggests deducting a tax from the interbank transaction exchanges involving European change, all around the world. The resources generated by such a tax would allow to finance priority international needs: the realization of the Millennium Development Goals, the adaption to climate change, the conservation of world public goods…
It is actually discussed with the French authorities willing to put this proposition on the diary of the following G20 in June in Canada. Besides, these organizations are getting ready for a campaign of mobilization that will come to join other current European campaigns.
